Legal Assistance FOR VICTIMS PROGRAM (LAV)
The South Carolina Victim Assistance Network is excited to announce the official launch of its new Legal Services Program (SCVAN Legal) website. SCVANLegal.org directs victims, service providers, attorneys, and community partners to statewide resources, provides free online training and educational materials, including information specific to the Covid-19 pandemic, facilitates online intakes and technical support requests, and creates space for service providers to connect with each other. SCVAN Executive Director Laura Hudson said, “Online information and access is key for crime victims, particularly during this time of change and uncertainty with the Coronavirus Pandemic.”
The website’s directory contains comprehensive local, statewide, and national resources for ALL South Carolina counties including courts, law enforcement, healthcare, food, transportation, and employment. Through this consolidation of information, SCVAN Legal expedites assistance for victims and streamlines referrals for service providers. The interactive events and news pages make it easy for the victim services community to keep up with the news, latest developments, and training opportunities while inviting them to contribute announcements for their own upcoming events and webinars. “We are thrilled to launch this resource for South Carolina victims and service providers,” said Sarah A. Ford, Legal Director at SCVAN.
SCVAN Legal provides free legal services to victims of violent crime throughout the entire state, including direct legal representation, free legal consultations, advocacy in and outside of court proceedings, and safety planning. In order to ensure that all crime victims receive access to and assistance with the criminal justice system, we provide free resources and training to law enforcement agencies, victim advocates, community partners, and legal professionals.
SCVAN welcomes you to the new website and is excited to begin this new chapter in advocacy with you through www.SCVANLegal.org.
